Berlvis Tools is live: private document utilities that never upload your files

Berlvis Tools is the first product in the Berlvis portfolio to go live publicly. It runs PDF, image and calculation utilities inside the browser, so files are never uploaded to a server.

Berlvis Tools is now live at tools.berlvis.com. It is the first product in the Berlvis portfolio to be released publicly, and it sets the pattern the rest of the portfolio follows: solve a specific everyday obstacle, and keep the user's data with the user.

What it does

Tools provides document utilities, money and business calculators, Nigeria specific calculations, and general everyday conversions. The document utilities cover merging, splitting, compressing, rotating, organising, watermarking and numbering PDFs, along with image conversion, resizing and compression.

Every utility is free, with no signup, no watermark and no export limit.

Why it processes files in the browser

The usual way to fix a document online is to upload it to a stranger's server. The documents people most often need to fix are bank statements, results, contracts and identity documents.

Tools removes that trade. The browser downloads the program that does the work, and the file is opened locally on the user's own device. Nothing is uploaded, so there is nothing to retain or leak. As a side effect, there is no queue and no waiting, and the tools keep working when the connection drops.

What comes next

The current focus is coverage of the document and calculation tasks that block applications, admissions and filings, and guides that explain the calculation rather than only performing it.
